Rebecca Singer grew up in Skokie, Illinois. She began her formal art studies at the Art Institute of Chicago at the age of 16 attending summer classes and learning to draw the human figure.
Ms. Singer was awarded a talented student scholarship and went on to attend the University of Illinois. In addition to traditional art studio classes, she studied photography, graphic design, and filmmaking earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Within a few years, Ms. Singer had set up Rebecca Singer Studio, a graphic design/film studio in Manhattan and was producing animated graphics and special effects for the
networks, advertising agencies, radio stations and producing motion picture trailers and movie title openings including television campaigns for UPS, People Magazine, and American Express. Some of her movie title work includes; The Chosen and Daniel. During this time, Rebecca
received many industry awards and acted as a spokesperson for the American Film Institute.
Later, Ms. Singer returned to photography earning a certificate from the International Center for Photography. She explored photographic collage with black and white
photography, using her special effects training to create new ways of layering imagery. In the last few years, she has been creating imagery with the aid of the computer, allowing her to use color photography to create special effects. She has exhibited her work in the New York area.
Her work, "Blessings and Bridges," a collection of 36 prints, is now part of the permanent collection of Yeshiva University Museum where she has exhibited several
times. This collection has been traveling and shown at the Maisel Center in Denver and other galleries around New York.
In 1999, Ms. Singer began teaching art in school settings, as well as senior facilities. Her teaching includes drawing techniques, perspective drawing, watercolor painting, collage, fabric arts, and photography. She is currently teaching at Adult centers in the New York area.
